Skipton Castle

Skipton Castle
Comments

I've been driven past it several times and always wanted to visit but we never had time ... imposing view of an imposing building.

If you ever get the chance to visit it is well worth the time. It is very-well preserved thanks to the efforts of Lady Anne Clifford. The castle withstood a three-year siege during the Civil War. Afterwards, when the damage had been repaired, she planted a Yew tree in the courtyard in 1659 to mark the restoration. The tree is still standing to this day.
