Well I really like it Marjorie, the lights and darks are beautifully done, I can’t see anything wrong with it . Look foreword to seeing a oil version .

The cloth draped really looks the part Marjorie.

Beautifully done folds in the cloth.

Lovely artwork Marjorie.

I often have trouble making pastel behave Marjorie but you seem to have it on it's best behaviour.

Cardboard or not it’s a good result Marjorie, especially the folds in the material

Thank you for all the comments😀. I think the problem was that the “ cardboard” ( which I’m sure it is ) has deadened the colours.

You have developed a great texture there Marjorie, also I love the way you have captured the table cloth.

I think it's beautifully done

Your problem is not apparent to us, Marjorie. Excellent.

Whatever the surface, this is lovely Marjorie I like it a lot.

Looks pretty good to me too. I know some surfaces clog up so you can’t add any more marks. Has that happened?

It's still a very good pastel, Marjorie especially the cloth and the touches of light everywhere!

Beautiful result Marjorie.

It's a very impressive pastel painting Marjorie. I really like the soft edges you have created here.

Thanks for being so positive everyone - re the “ cardboard”, I found that you can’t press the pastel in enough, you can’t have smooth thick areas, it’s lying on the top. I may do a version using proper pastel paper, I’m sure there’ll be a difference. It’s all a learning curve, even at my age!

I really like it, Marjorie.

We are always learning Marjorie, what keeps us going 🤓

Wish my use of pastel were half as good as this!!

It looks lovely – like the draping.

I thought I had already commented on your pastel Marjorie…….strange. I still love it!

I would never have guessed that you had problems with this. Beautiful!

I thought I was using pastel card ( found it when I was tidying a cupboard) but I’m pretty sure it’s grey cardboard! Hence a rather rough finish where the pastel is not behaving. I’ll do an oil version.
