Also, photo does not pick up the colour properly, despite taking it outside. Got to be the light, i pad photo.

Oh thanks Dennis, just noticed the very green forehead...I got to the point where I couldn't see the wood for the trees.

She looks quite friendly and approachable Marjorie. I love the colours in her dress and the shadows and highlights on her face.

I wish I could have met her, she was long gone before I was born. Thanks Adele.

I agree with Adele ref her dress Marjorie, beautiful colours, she looks a wise lady.

Liking the use of sap green in the skin tones, mixes well the dress. Great work on those eyes. Very nice.

lovely painting Marjorie it looks great , did you ever meet her marjorie

Well Dennis, she died in about 1915 and I think she was about 80. So no chance. Thanks Fiona and Andre - the dress was the easy bit but how hard it is to paint in the style of. Tomorrow I'm going to see if I can "Van Gogh" her a bit.

Excellent work Marjorie

Do you know, Marjorie I'm sure I can really see a family resemblance especially the eyes and nose. Gorgeous dress, very nice portrait.

Proud lady......Brill.

Thankyou! Dermot, Jennifer and Peter. Jennifer - I can definitely see my mother here and she was two generations after. Me? Perhaps a bit, but not the eyebrows!

I think this is lovely Marjorie, especially the skin tones and very expressive eyes, which reflect a lifetime's experience.

Oil on mountboard, different style, was trying a Van Gogh but, guess what, my own preferences came through! Aaaagh! Enough of it now, will maybe add and alter tomorrow. This is another version of Ggma by the way.
