Hello Marjorie, I can see the look of concentration! Very good indeed

Well done Marjorie. Fine work. (I often work from a mirror (an old shaving mirror), I pull faces at it, but I'm never trying to do a self-portrait.) So I appreciate how difficult it is.

Thanks both - Lewis, I did it mainly without my specs so it was a bit difficult.

What at fine looking lady you are and very talented, it’s a superb selfie . The complements are free and sincere no need for a cheque in the post as Robert would say.

How about a bank transfer Paul…

A wonderfully engaging portrait, full of character.

Very good work Marjorie. I always finish up in hysterics when I try the mirror thing.

Brilliant Marjorie and so nice to meet you!

Nice to meet you, Marjorie - a beautifully done sketch!

Well done Marjorie, it is a wonderful portrait.

Superb portrait Marjorie, excellent colour.

I saw this on social media Marjorie, it is fabulous. Is it a good likeness?

Great work Marjorie, perhaps one day I might be brave enough to give it a try myself 😊

Good self portrait Marjorie. I use marble dust mixed with acrylic. It grips the pastel and holds the pastel in place beautifully.

Thanks everyone. Cheryl, have a go…I wouldn’t say it’s easy the first time you try but it gets easier. Frank, as for being a good likeness, I think it is…maybe someone who’s seen me in person will comment. I think I see my mother a little bit.

Frank, you can see me 10 years ago on tv. “Pointless” on the BBC, series 1o, episode 69 “What’s Don done? “ I’ve aged a bit ( ha ha ) but you might see a similarity.

Great portrait Marjorie, and without your specs too!

Excellent self-portrait Marjorie, and yes, I googled Pointless; I definitely see the likeness! Very well-done.

Excellent portrait Marjorie.

That series is unavailable Marjorie, what a shame.

Frank, the excerpt “ What’s Don done? “ is there, further down.

Of course Russell, if I don’t have the specs on I don’t see the ravages of time so much😉

From when I remember seeing you quite a while ago, it’s a very From seeing you quite some time ago it’s a verygood likeness. I admire your honesty. I would be extinguishing the signs of age a as it would take forever to paint all the wrinkles.

A very lovely portrait Marjorie.

A lovely self portrait Marjorie and like the morphed effect in the background, it certainly turned out well! The flesh tones and gaze from your eyes shows steadiness and it's marvelous how you brought it alive, well done! Self portraits are not so easy when glancing at a mirror but you achieved a first class portrait here, nice to view!

I have to take my hat of to you Marjorie. I can only imagine the difficulties of doing a self portrait using the mirror. You have succeeded in every way and nice to put a face to a name.

Well done Marjorie. Good to see you. I haven’t done a selfie for years but I remember how hard it is not to pull a daft face!

What a beautiful portrait, I like it a lot. !

Thanks again everyone! Dare I suggest….have a go so we can meet each other?

Sensitive use of colour and tone - very effective!

Super self portrait Marjorie- very well done. Never attempted a self portrait myself- can’t be easy.

Super portrait.

This is absolutely lovely. I've tried a couple of self portraits from photos, but I couldn't keep a straight face looking in the mirror.

I’ve just been told by a close friend that I look so sad which is not me. But it’s hard to keep smiling when you’re sketching yourself.

Lovely portrait - good to see you, Marjorie

Thanks too, Andrew, Christine, Ellen, Bobbie and Thalia.

Hello you! Very good!

Hello to you Diane!😁

Beautiful use of pastels Marjorie.

Thanks Shaun, I enjoy working in pastel but you have to be quite organised ( I’m not very)…the number of times the arm brushes the pastel on to the floor where it shatters is quite often. Space is the key, my dream would be a huge room to work in….

Wonderful work Marjorie. Yes we should all have a go, but maybe I’ll wait til tomorrow….!

Beautiful work Marjorie, lovely to meet you!

Well done! An engaging selfie!

Soft Unison pastel sketch of self from looking at the mirror. Tried not to look like a rabbit caught in the headlights. Sketched on board covered with acrylic pastel ground providing tooth.
