You certainly have not lost your touch with them Marjorie. Well composed.

A superb painting that’s beautifully done, it’s a beauty Marjorie.

Thanks John, do you know, I’m enjoying them! And this from someone who always uses oils! So quick - about 4 hours on this and dry!! But oils are still my favourite.

Really well done Marjorie.

Nothing like the richness and depth in oils. I use Griffin Titanium white with the oils which speeds up the drying a lot. At one time I used Liquin but the blasted stuff dries up so quickly in the bottle, I wasted more than I ever use.

Thank you Stephen and Paul. John, I do the same if I need the painting to dry quickly. Although I have a set of alkyds, the white is really all you need.

A wee cracker Marjorie, I like that dash of turquoise? I don’t think quick enough to use acrylics.

Ha ha Fiona! You know it ain’t about that.

The flats are very well done. An attractive piece

Very impressive Marjorie. I like the wide open space in this seascape, radiating a great feeling of freeedom.

Impressive work

Good work Marjorie. Lovely place, well represented in your painting.

Lovely painting Marjorie.

Great texture Marjorie with the palette knife.

This is a very fine painting Marjorie, great feeling of space and well, of the sea shore! What size is it?

Beautiful work Marjorie, it's a stunning scene.

Excellent. I envy your ability to produce something this good in 4 hours with acrylics. (I’m taking forever).

Lovely palette knife work and brushwork where it matters. Like this a lot Marjorie

Thank you all for commenting, I always appreciate it. It’s practice really for a workshop on Monday, which is to be a coastal scene - he uses acrylics and works in layers. However, I prefer to use my own photo source….yet to decide on which, I want to have some texture so it won’t be “serene”. Russell, this is quite small, 10”x12” but I’m wondering whether to upscale, maybe 40x50cm. Lewis, it’s easier using acrylics like this ( with texture), and quicker than how you are using them.

Super painting Marjorie and beautifully textured.

I think you should do more acrylics - but not fewer oils. Work, work, work... have we no mercy? But both are capable of subtlety, which some will still claim is not true of acrylic, and used with the painting knife especially, acrylic (and of course oil - but the expense of oil if used thickly with a knife does make me cringe a bit) can make for very powerful paintings. As, indeed, you have proved.

Thanks Anne, Denise and Robert. Robert, yes I did pick up your little correction ( “painting knife”rather than “ palette knife” )😆. And yes, acrylic works very well but you have to be prepared for more layers, though that’s no hardship, they dry so quickly. I’ve also got flow medium but didn’t use it….do you use it Robert?

Beautiful textures Marjorie great painting.

Beautifully done Marjorie.

Many thanks Christine, Carlos, Martin and Spencer.

Carole, your new name is Carlos!🫢😁

Bel lavoro, Marjorie!
