I have a daughter who's hair was this wonderful colour when younger. Now it is a little darker but still lovely. I like the softeness of the portrait and the feeling of sun. Whoever you did the commission for must have been delighted with it.

Great movement in that gorgeous hair. Sad to think that mine was once that colour. Now it's mouse and white. I absolutely adore red hair (and my son curses me for his!) I'm even known to stop strangers in the street and compliment them on their beautiful red hair.

Thanks everyone - strangely enough, when I did this pastel I never imagined I would have two grandchildren with the same colour hair - it must have been hidden in the genes!

I have to agree with allof the above comments,..i juat adore this painting, the way you have caught the movement of the girls hair, its as though you have captured the movement of her hair, which is a gorgeous colour,.as she swung her head around to look at the viewer, just great work. Such a beautiful work. I hadn't seen this before. This has a real freshness to it...its loose and impressionistic...and great use of colours. You should do more portraits.
