Thought this was good when I caught a glimpse yesterday on the forum. Your work, as I can gather, is so opposite to mine, in a very good way. Larger pieces might suit you too.

Thanks Martin. The photo is a bit indistinct due to the light today when photoing.

I photo in the darker rooms because of reflection, then let my phone automatically lighten. The sheen from fresh oil is like it’s got Vaseline on it

I use the ipad…it adjusts the light but I then have to edit. I’m not good at taking photos manually, don’t know what I’m doing! As long as it’s ok in reality…

Has a lovely feel to it !

So very very good Marjorie, would hang it on my wall any time - the light is amazing.

There is nothing chocolaty box about this Marjorie. I loved the smaller one and I’m sure this has even more gravitas because of its size.

Beautiful.

Superb painting Marjorie.

Love the light and the catches of blue on the tableware -like it not being too detailed!

That is superb, Marjorie. The way you have dealt with the light is quite remarkable.

I love the way you have captured the light and reflections, not a chocolate box in sight.

Fabulous Marjorie and I like the way you have brought the sky reflections into the room.

This has a lovely soft feel, as if someone has just left the room.

Beautifully painted

It's superbly painted Marjorie, you paint light beautifully.

Lovely - I like the sun shining through the window.

Wonderful soft colour palette, not a bit chocolate boxy.

Your interior is an absolute delight Marjorie. Sun kissed by your talent and brush. I really do like the glints of turquoise?

Thank you very much for all your lovely comments - re the turquoise Fiona, yes, still have some left!

A fascinating and very atmospheric painting Marjorie. It hints at a story of who was there, where, when etc.. and despite your title I feel it could be anywhere we want it to be!

Is a beautiful painting, skilfully executed, it certainly tell the story . I enjoyed seeing it on the forum it’s come out absolutely brilliant .

Tessa, Paul and Anne, thank you - it’s a bit more sharp in reality. I find that photoing in lower light blurs the detail a bit.

What a lovely painting. I think I said in an earlier version you have captured the light superbly - seriously good

Beautiful, Marjorie, lovely atmosphere with that soft light.

Oh, Wow! This is a wonderful painting Marjorie. It makes me think of John Singer Sergeant . Lovely work.

Thank you very much Susan, Jenny and Jennifer - wow, mentioned in the same breath as JSS! If only…one of my favourite artists. Funnily enough Jennifer, the little garden/courtyard here was just like one of his paintings.

This really is a wonderful painting Marjorie. Every thing about it is so well done.

Thanks George. Not sure which version I prefer.

Well set up and executed to create an air of expectation

Thanks Martin - the breakfast was delivered each morning, fresh croissants hung in a basket on the door handle outside. One of the best places we’ve been to.

Your drawing as the underlying basis of this beautiful painting is superb. It's a challenging subject which you have painted with aplomb. Stunning.

Beautiful work

Lynne and Tuula, thank you!

Lovely pic of a lovely place, Marjorie. Special mood.

A larger version, 40x50cm, oil on board. I finished it but it was a struggle…proportions, how much detail?, feel it’s a bit “ chocolate box”. It was a beautiful B&B though.
