Day 31!!! An old mandolin

Day 31!!! An old mandolin
Comments

I like the washes and highlights on the mandolin, and the different washes on the piece of cloth. My mum used to have a mandolin like yours, my dad's aunty could play it.Thank you, Margaret, for letting me do the challenge with you . :))

Thank you Annick :) It has been fun, hasn't it - but I'm rather glad it is over as sometimes I've struggled of subjects! My husband plays mandolin - but not this one, sadly, the front got badly damaged years ago - but it still looks good from the back.

Love thevooseness of this. Did you enjoy the challenge, Margaret? I did Inktober and I know what you mean about the struggle dome days.

Love this and think it could be easily turned intoi a painting from a sketch. Nice work Margaret

That challenge sounds rather good. I’ve missed seeing all the paintings but I like the fresh, spontaneous look of these washes

Beautifully done Margaret.

Thank you Dawn :) The last few days were the worst! Thank you Jim :) Mmm, might think about doing this in acrylic or oil - thanks for the suggestion. Thank you David and Diana :)

Well done on your January challenge Margaret, it's good to make yourself do something every day. I would like to try it but things always seem to get in the way.

Thank you on Lynn :) Must admit it was a bit of an effort by the end - and the other things I need to do have been piling up!

Well Margaret, you have completed your January challenge, I do admire your grit! We have been entertained with your differing subjects and mediums and I have enjoyed everyone of them. Well done and what’s next?! I agree about taking this sketch forward, would make a great oil study......

Must have been quite hard sometimes to produce a painting every day but you did it and can now be very proud of yourself Margaret.

Congratulations Margaret. You did it and finished it beautifully! This is a great WOW!!

Thank you Fiona :) It was definitely easier with Annick also doing it too, and with encouragement from you all at PoL. It has been fun and I think the daily drawing/painting has helped me improve and so I will try to continue it (albeit possibly just quick sketches) without feeling I need anything good enough to post! I am intending to keep posting stuff (of course!) just not daily - which is just as well, as we are starting doing some major clearing out as a precursor to getting work done on the house!

Thank you Satua and Mia :) Thanks again to everybody for your encouragement - it helped hugely. Maybe more of us can do it next year? :)

Sorry Satu, got your name wrong.

So well done for completing the month Margaret. You’ve given us such variety of style, subject and medium. 👍🏻

Thank you Tessa :) It was a good excuse to experiment! Though I kept going back to my favourite pen and wash :)

Beautiful, Margaret, lovely light gentle feeling in this

Well done Margaret on completing this 31 day challenge, you have managed to find a different theme every day, super work!!

Thank you Thalia :) Thank you Margaret :)

Watercolour and wash - my husband's old mandolin set up as a still life. CP paper. The last day of my January challenge! Thanks very much to Annick to doing this too - and to all of you have encouraged me along the way :)
