my thanks to all for the encouragement. Willie , I am using the wrong paper. I normally use a mixed media paper for the ink work , in these last two paintings I have got hold of mixed media AND acrylic paper - which has a greater resist to the surface and doesn't accept the ink so quickly or as well. This last one - I didn't leave overnight before washing off.
