Because the Southern Alps of New Zealand's South Island are very close to the west coast , high rainfall is experienced and rain forest is found growing between the mountains and the shore. A very picturesque area - which accounts for the tourists !!! This is , for me , a very loose rendition of the subject matter - so don't be surprised if I "do" another version.
