Homage to a Dead Bird by Lynne Brookfield

Hi Lynne I'm always saddened to see birds die this was. as a buildings designer I was horrified to learn from AI More than 1 billion birds die each year in the US due to collisions with buildings. Glass confuses them by reflecting vegetation or appearing as open air, and nighttime lighting disorients migratory flocks. While skyscrapers pose a threat, the sheer volume of low-rise buildings and homes causes the vast majority of strikes. its an other great tragedy of our times

That's a very good gesture, Lynne, to honour this bird. I was walking today to work and there was a rabbit dead in the middle of the road. Before it became run over and over again I moved it to the grass. Silly thing but I am happy I did

A perfect homage

Poignant and beautiful at the same time !!

Impressive work well painted, Lynne.

Sad event that we see regularly, mainly in the Spring. Fine idea to mark the birds’ passing with this tender painting

A lovely thought and painting Lynne, bird lovers will appreciate the tribute. I saved a Jackdaw this morning that a Sparrow Hawk had taken down in the garden, and just before I opened your painting I picked up a Chaffinch that hit the window and sadly didn’t survive. ☹️

I appreciate your complimentary and informative comments, Martin N., Federico, Heather, Valerie, Cesare, Martin T. and Fiona. So many thanks.

This bird hit my window. So I did a watercolor to honor it somehow.
