Wild bunny by Lynne Brookfield

What a dear little wild Bunny, Lynne - you have painted him so well. I like the way he is lounging so casually!

Love to see rabbits hiding in the undergrowth. Lovely sketching. 👏👏

A lovely trio of paintings of your rabbit visitor Lynne. Do you think you might persist with the gouache? You might find it becomes easier with time.

That rabbit is very cute Lynne - the bottom one is amusing, he looks as if he might be slyly watching you. I find gouache tricky too, the tubes work better than the pans I think. However, I rather like the soft colours here.

What a lovely trio of paintings, really nicely done

How lovely, love them all !!

Gouache takes some getting used to; I'd say it was worth persisting, but as I hardly ever use it myself, that'd be a bit hypocritical. Oil over gouache is a bit problematic, but whatever works for you; it's all a bit of an experiment, and that's how we learn. Rabbits are good to draw - nice compact shape, giving a way in to painting larger animals in due course (I got a bit carried away with one - on reflection, if it had been the size in the landscape that I painted it, it would have been around 30 feet long).

A charming little trio Lynn. Mixing water based mediums with oils will prove to be problematic. Putting oils on top of acrylic works well.

These look fantastic, I love the neutral, natural colours. I find that difficult about gouache, too, that the darks dry lighter and the lights dry darker. I especially love the first one, lovely clear rabbit shape with the pink ears as the light filters through them against that darker bush.

As always Lynne, your palette is wonderful. Love the laid back bunny, very chilled.

It's wonderful to receive all your complimentary comments with my gouache experimentation, Anne, Martin, Sandra, Marjorie, Heather, Valerie, Robert, Carole, Laura, and Fiona. I made a mistake in not clarifying that I painted over water-based gouache with water-based oils. They seem compatible now. Dunno later.

Superb , like the three little paintings .

I tried painting with gouache to see if "sketching" freely might be easier than assembling the water-soluble oils I am used to. I found gouache difficult. The darks didn't go dark enough, so I painted over those areas with oils. These are sketches I did of a wild rabbit that frequents my garden.
