Very beautiful painting.

Caravaggio was the master of Chiaroscuro, and one of my favourite artists of the period. Nicely painted anyway, I’m assuming you had a single light source in your setup?

Super still life, I particularly like that colour palette

A very elegant and well-painted still life!

Thank you Sarah, Iwona, Alan, Heather, Anne for your encouragement and compliments. I was born in 1940, too, Anne, so you know what an upper it is to get feedback. I basically use a six-color palette using ultramarine blue and burnt umber for greys.

Love the subtlety of your palette Lynn.

Thank you, Carole, for the palette comment. I do mix complimentary colors together for greys, too.

I wanted to learn more about how to achieve the darks and lights of the Old Masters. I set up a still life and gave it a go, initially drawing the composition in with burnt umber. Oh, where is Dennis Roberts? He's a master at this.
