Another wonderfully vibrant painting. I particularly like all the areas and slashes of light which give the scene so much life. With all the detail pared down to the minimum, the viewer can really appreciate the shapes of the city street. An object lesson in 'less is more' I think!

I love all the interesting marks in your city scapes Louise; a dash here, block of colour there do you make the marks by design or do you freestyle it lol. Do you make a sketch of where you will place your main shapes at all. However you do it Louise it's super!

Thanks Fiona, I'm a little out of breath! As for the cityscapes, I pencil in a few verticals or else the buildings can tend to lean badly and then just go in with the paint brush.

I love these street scenes Louise! No need for cars or people, a tranquil street with lovely soft colours is enough.

I love this painting. Superb use of colour, contrast, and a great feeling of spontaneity. I like your courage of not over doing it with the drawing - this takes some confidence and trust in one's own skill with brush work. There is an abstract quality about your work also that I love. ps Manchester is a great place for subject matter - I go there a couple of times a month and there are some lovely little back streets and café bars.
