This is very Art Deco in style. Lovely design and I can see how it would look wonderful in a book of poetry as it has that mystical and ethereal air to it. I am constantly amazed at your ability to design super shapes and colours. I don't have that ability at all. Although I love seeing all your older works, I am wondering if you are having a May drought like I am. I just can't seem to get going on anything and have thrown the last two paintings away. I think EuroDisney stole my inspiration!!

Ahhh...it's lovely, Louise!! Enjoying seeing your work! :) angi

I love this very much, Louise. Love the original subject and the limited use of colours! There is nothing wrong about posting earlier works!

I agree with Thea - the graphism is really Art Nouveau which I love - so this strikes a cord with me too! Lovely palette and flowing lines. No inspiration at the moment either........ just enjoying others' works.

Many thanks Thea, Angi, Mia and Avril. It's reassuring to hear that I'm not the only one who's lacking inspiration at the moment. These aren't just older works though, they're practically antique! I agree with Thea about the May drought but it's just occured to me that we're now into June! ...

Lovely Louise, I can see this as an illustration in a book very easily! Love the naive shapes of the animals and birds.

I immediately thought of 'celtic' when I first looked at the tree formation Louise. Would make a lovely book illustration.

The colours in this really pulled my eyes the're lovely. I thought of stained glass too. I too feel an artistic block at he moment, must be something in the air. :)

Takes me straight back to my story book days Louise. I love the colours, you have a great talent of putting the right shades together. I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't get going at the moment. I can't keep up with how quick the turn over is on the site, I've only missed a day or two!!!

Please keep posting your old stuff and new ones too, Louise. They are all gems. I love this! It's so fabulously whimsical. The publisher who rejected you obviously had no sense of aesthetic or sense of humor!

I almost missed this one. I agree with everyone, great colours and composition and yes please keep posting old stuff!

pen and ink 18 cm x 18 cm In the early 90's I thought that I'd have a go at book illustration. My daughter wrote some wonderful poems and I attempted to illustrate them. I had no success and was disheartened after one rejection! The publisher did love her poems though and wished her luck. Needless to say, she chose a completely different career! I abandoned the idea and carried on aimlessly as usual !:) ..Eventually, I'll run out of old stuff to post so please bear with me. Thanks !
