What a sumptuous box! The colours look marvellous and the simplicity of your composition allows the viewer to fully appreciate the jewel like qualities of this lovely box. Cleverly painted as well as I can see that you have given us the full design on the front and then faded it away on the side and far edge of the top which gives a variety of tone and adds to the interest of the painting. I think you are on a roll with this style of painting - so power to your elbow!!!

I see you have a 'cunning plan' Louise! Beautiful colours and intricate design.

Lovely box Louise, I am awaiting the new painting!

Thank you all for these encouraging comments. In answer to Petra, the bank holiday looms, no painting for me now for a few days. I have to be 'home alone'. Too many distractions for painting :)

Beautiful work, Louise!

What a pretty box and you've portrayed it so well. Looking forward to seeing the series that will derive from it.

Thanks Seok and Val. I enjoyed painting this little box. No decisions to make about colour or composition! Stress free infact :)

A small 15 cm x 15 cm I had a bit of fun yesterday painting this small example of Persian marquetry. We have quite a few objects like this around the house which always fascinate me as apparently in each cubic centimeter of Persian inlay there are up to 250 pieces of metal, ivory or wood. Obviously I haven't painted all of these pieces but I might incorporate the shapes into another painting. That's the plan :)
