Even although this is sketchy and not supposed to be an 'accurate' drawing - it has such a wonderful feel of authenticity about it. I feel that I could jump into the painting and walk down this street. You are getting very skillful at this type of sketch and I think they would look wonderful all grouped together. They definitely have commercial potential.

Agreed these works of yours are really eyecatching Louise and the depth of colour works so well

The only trouble with giving something the label of 'sketch' implies it is less worthy. Well this may be a sketch but it's still a great image worthy of anyone's walls.

Many thanks Thea, Ros and Michael. I do appreciate your comments. Michael, that had occurred to me..The thing is, it took less than 30 minutes to complete and in my mind, it's a sketch. If I can iron out the wrinkles (unstretched paper here) and see what it looks like mounted then I might change my mind and give it a title, once I find out the name of the street that is..lol

You have included so much information in this 'sketch' Louise, great colours.

I agree with Michael about calling them sketches , it doesn't matter how long a time it takes you draw and paint these gorgeous city scenes, 30 minutes under or over, doesn't make any difference for me. It's the result that counts and these colourful, happy streets make a lovely collection that you can be proud of.

Thanks Carole and Satu!

Yes it is odd how sketches are somehow inferior but all your skills and knowledge are so evident in your lovely "sketches" . If I try to make a "proper" painting from my sketches they just don't work . The moment and inspiration becomes lost and stilted. Frame up this lot, use them as prints and cards and you have a great commercial proposition.

This is a great collection of "sketches" or "cartoons" you should be proud of them. I've seen Constables sketches and found them more enjoyable than the finished oil paintings!

Thanks Sylvia and Fred!

Lovely vibrant colour and scene.

They always say paint something quickly, don't labour over it and you will capture the essence of the thing that attracted you to the scene in the first place and I think you do this admirably. The emotion is captured here. They also say that an artist's 20 minute painting has 20 odd years of experience and practice behind it so don't put yourself down. All painting is experience and beautiful in its own right. Keep going . You are doing fine. Your 'sketches' have vitality and energy in them. They are spontaneous and lovely.

Thank you Lesley and Jean, this is all very encouraging !!

Very very atmospheric, this one. Beautifully done, Louise!

washable pen and watercolour 14 in x 10 in. Most definitely a sketch and fun to do despite the heat!
