This painting comes over to me as having a surreal quality - almost as if you have stepped into a dream and there are different things going on that make perfect sense in the dream but wouldn't in real life. What I see is very ghostly white houses in front of a stage with red velvet curtains drawn back to reveal a shining light of colours on the stage. A river runs across the front of the stage and sweeps down and out of the frame. It appears to be night with the dark tones at the back of the houses and 'stage'. I feel this painting is very thought provoking and each person will take something different from it and see it in a different way. A startling piece of work, Louise, and even more brilliant if it was a quick sketch! Well done you!

Very dramatic with wonderfully rich colours. I like it..... (as I always do).

Like this one Louise --- The darks at the back seem to push the middle ground forward -- amazing work -- Only one more word BRILLIANT

I really like your darker paintings, really dramatic, a good balance of saturated colour and darker colour to tone it down

It's so very encouraging to get these comments. I feel a bit of a fraud here though, not deserving of such praise, because it's a smallish sketch, more of a "speed" painting! It's balanced though! Infact, I'm feeling quite good about it now thanks to you lot! Many thanks!

Striking colours, interesting subject Louise.

Something very theatrical about this painting, Louise. I could see this being a gorgeous backdrop in a West End musical!

This is a very quick sketch which probably sounds like a poor excuse but I quite like the composition. Watercolour, a small 20 cm x 20 cm!
