Wow, a whole sheet...thats a challenge! First impression : quirky palette, with nice layering in the centre, but can only see it on my phone at the moment, not ideal. Personally, I like the lights to be more contained in the negative shapes, so would probably take the line work more to the edge of the picture plane in places. But thats just my (inexperienced) idea.

Thank you Sharon, you've confirmed what I was thinking. It doesn't look finished but I'll have to pluck up courage to add more paint especially as it's watercolour. It's the left side that's bothering me. If it doesn't work then there's always next time :)

Go for some m ore lines, anything that takes your fancy. It's only paper after all! I like big.

Thanks Gudrun..you're quite right :)

I would say it's finished Louise a beauty in the abstract journey

That's an impressive size and would look fab in the right modern frame. I love the style and the colours Louise, is it finished?, I don't know but I like what I see.

Just looked at some of the other comments and I don't agree... white space is important and works well on this piece, I would leave alone.

More of your fabulous calligraphic lines Louise and perhaps a touch of bright orange...I don't know why but I love to see black, grey and orange together! Lol Looking good.

Thank you all, I really appreciate your thoughts on this as I know not everyone's keen on abstract work. I'll probably leave it alone for a few days but it's on my mind now so that might not work. A touch of orange sounds good Fiona and Alan, I agree about the white spaces and yes, framed up would make a big difference. I have a big frame and mount so will see how it looks. Probably best to try another and come back to this.

That's brave Louise, working in that size with watercolour! Love the bold marks and colours - for me it could just do with something more in the top left corner, perhaps a splash of red or orange. (It would also work very well upside down - reminds me of a row of gondolas!)

Could well be John :) I thought sideways up looked like two large trees and now, upside down, gondolas jumped out at me. I quite like it upside down Jenny which has given me more to think about. lol. It was the top left corner that was mentioned when I asked my husband's opinion but upside down, it's not so noticeable. It's giving me plenty to think about and thank you, I appreciate you looking and hearing your thoughts :)

Wow, yes it's big, Louise. I do rather like the calligraphic effect where your paint runs down, and I am wondering whether the addition of some pen work might sharpen various areas of interest? Hope you can understand what I mean, because I'm not too sure myself! But I am very interested in abstract work, which to my way of thinking, comes close to memory and imagination, which plays a big part in a lot of my work.

Many thanks for the pen work suggestion Ruth which I had considered but decided against as the painting's too big. Had it been smaller then I might have Fine pen lines wouldn't work here but possibly a finer brush line might. I keep looking at it which isn't helping. Best turn it to the wall for a few days. Thank you again, I do appreciate your comment and idea.

The runs add a great interest Louise and the black is beautiful really dynamic, wouldn't add much more.

This piece is stunning! Please ignore me but quite a lot of the time I find myself unsure as to whether a piece of my work is finished or not, the worry of adding more may result in a negative outcome, but the feeling that the work still isn't complete is frustrating, these are thoughts I go through more often than not. Especially with works that are of an abstract nature, I feel it harder to know when to stop/to know if you have crossed that finish line or not. However sometimes I find it very beneficial to leave a piece for at least a month (if you can) and go back to it with fresh eyes. The reflection of time will usually give you the answer to carry on working on it or to leave it be. Either way I love this work and I'm sure whatever you do will be correct as, at the end of the day, this is your piece and you are your own artist :-)

Abstract watercolour. Not entirely sure whether this is finished or whether to add more line work so I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. It's quite big, 52 cm x 73 cm.
