Oh no..... not her again! It is enough to put you off pearl earrings, lol! Got it immediately and a great one, Louise. I like your cheeky sense of humour in doing this one as the gallery has been flooded with versions over the years, but none, in my opinion, have had the vivacity and appeal of yours.

Aaaaargh, not another one!

Ahem. I'll be all right in a minute. Just having a slurp of gin and tonic....

Yes, you're quite right: this lady appears again and again, and to be quite honest I'd rather she retired for a while. But I like your painting MUCH more that the somewhat slavish reproductions. I know people love this painting, and it's churlish to complain that they want to reproduce it, but there are others they could choose, surely: how about an outing for The Laughing Cavalier .... ? Or The Night Watch? (What am I unleashing....?)

The portrait looks simple - it's what makes it so attractive to copy, that and the fact that the original is a masterpiece. But of course,it ISN'T simple - it's a supremely successful work of art. And it's one that, try as you might, you can't begin to reproduce in all its glory - it does puzzle me that people still try. Oh, I can knock this one off in acrylic - Oh - no you can't!

And of course Louise, you haven't tried to, and that's why this comment on a supremely great painting works, whereas slavish copying never, ever will.

But why this one Thea? I must have seen dozens of copies and my reaction is always the same...not another!

Perhaps because it looks like it would be easier to copy than other portraits? even though it's obviously not, as I have seen many attempts but no one comes near the original. However I like this one ever so much and I can see a cheeky challenge coming on - Robert's Laughing Cavalier perhaps lol !

Um, took me about 10 minutes Robert and I for one, can't see why so many would want to copy this painting!

That's a good idea Debs!

Ooooo, now let me think, 'girl with the blue band', 'girl with cheeky grin'...........know what you mean Louise. I've taken more time looking at your fine example than I have all the others put together!

Considering just how many they've been Fiona, that must have been some time!

Now this is good Louise stands alone

Exactly.......long enough for my cup of tea to go cold!Lol.

I much prefer this to the original, it's well ...........so original!

Thanks Dennis and Christine. Now you're just being nice and there's no need. It's a ten minute job and more of a statement as to why so many paint her. I actually groan when I see yet another pearl earring one. Honestly, I can't see why!

Frankie Howerd in drag? Just a guess........

..and there was me thinking the earring was a dead giveaway Bill!

The best of the lot.... Brilliant.

Brill this is Louise! I have one to post this morning see if you can guess .

Thanks Sylvia and Carole!

Love the way her face expresses your feelings Louise "are you sure you want to see me again". Very impressed you can do this from memory, even if as you say she has been over-exposed.

I absolutely love this, Louise! That very cheeky look really makes the painting!

Could somebody tell me why so many feel the need to paint this lady? I've seen so many that I didn't need a reference photo, it's from memory. Not good, but you'll know who it is!
