These drawings have so much character - I just love the upturned foot and toes - brilliant. I know they do look like a daft thing to do but brains do need some training to think outside the box and also to observe properly and not just rely on what they know about an object. Onwards and upwards!

Thanks Thea. It's a bit of a cliche possibly but I really feel that painting is a bit of a journey. I can't keep on painting subjects that I'm too familiar with or in the same well used techniques. I just have to try out different subjects, move on and this one line thing is fascinating. It's been a real eye opener and I feel that my actual drawing technique has increased in confidence. Then to find that I can draw a person from an upside down photograph starting with his feet in a matter of minutes has made me really wonder what else is possible. I shall get back to painting soon and see where it all takes me. It's all very exciting stuff at the moment as painting should be. Thank you for the encouragement.

He looks a very laid back chap Louise and that is how this method of drawing comes across.

Your a clever lot, I will have to have a go at this!

Thanks Satu, Christine and Carole. Carole, strangely, after thinking no way can I do that, I found it easier to draw in this spontaneous 'one line way upside down' way than doing the same thing the right way up. Not sure what this says about me..LOL

Great character as Thea has said. This one reminds me a little of Matisse?

Amazing isn't it, I will have a go!

Where is this taking us one-liners..hopefully to a more spontaneous way of painting. Meanwhile I'm having great fun with this peculiar sounding way of drawing. Ref photo upside down, upside down drawing, continuous line, hardly looking.. etc. Honestly, try it. They take little time and are a real eyeopener. You might need to lie down afterwards though..LOL
