The Scottish born steel magnate, Andrew Carnegie, is still one of History's most famous philanthropists. He donated money to build a staggering number of almost 1700 public libraries in the USA, where he made his fortune, and no fewer than 660 in the UK. Taibach Library is one of them. Within the last couple of years the local council decided that they could no longer afford to run it, but local volunteers have managed to keep it going ever since. This lovely old building celebrates its centenary this year.
