As the name suggests, this building used to be the Customs Office for the port from which Port Talbot takes its name. By the time I moved to Port Talbot in the mid 80s this was being used by the COuncil, and indeed through the course of work I went to a number of meetings with Social Services there. A few years ago it was deemed surplus to requirements, and the whole block was demolished and replaced with a modern building. It's ok, if a little nondescript, and it does boast the name Customs House, but frankly it's not as nice in my opinion.
