I've just discovered, now the pic is posted, you cannot enlarge it with the mouse wheel!! I'll still correct it though. And while I am here, no, that is not a river. It is supposed to b e a road. And, yes, the two figures are just over the hill....and I know how they feel.

Lionel, when I looked at this I was struck by those splendid trees; I love the way you've painted them. The river never was a river in my eyes, very clearly a road, and the over the hill people, well, why not - over the hill has a lot going for it....time, wisdom, ability to paint fabulous trees....

I too like this Lionel, Jane has said it all, lovely trees, altogether a great painting

Lovely colours Lionel, great composition.

Many thanks indeed, Jane, Glennis and Carole. Your comments are always much appreciated.

Over the hill? It's a good place to be Lionel, I've done the clawing and scrambling up the steep side, I'm enjoying the rollacoaster ride down the other side now! There is nothing about your road that made me think it was a river, you've made the gradient look spot on with your brush strokes and I see what you mean regarding the comment you made on my last posting ( which I thank you for) about the trees. Your trees, have got the 'impressionist' feel to them down to a T. They remind me of the beautiful poplar trees that line the leafy lanes in France.

Thank you so much, Fiona. Your comments are always greatly appreciated.

I was struck by the strong composition Lionel, love it.

Hi William. Many thanks for your kind comment. Much appreciated.

Hello Lionel, I've missed you on the gallery I hope you are keeping well? Are you working on the ultimate masterpiece, I do hope so and I look forward to seeing it!! Keep well Lionel. Fiona x

I'm very sorry to hear you have been unwell Lionel, you must be feeling pretty miserable about the whole situation. If I had known I would have written sooner. I hope that your trip to Spain will charge your batteries up and you will return refreshed. I think I remember you saying once that you have some art materials in Spain, so don't think that you will get away with not doing something whilst you're away!!! Lol. Thank you for your kind words on 'Quinag', I miss your advise and critique, you are always honest in your opinion and I appreciate that very much. If you really do like it, I would love to make a gift of it to you, or any of my other paintings if you would like one. Please don't accept to be polite, I'm not sensitive about my paintings, as you know, I quite understand. Have a lovely time in Spain Lionel and drop me a line when you get back and tell me all about it! Fondest regards to you Lionel, Fiona X

No problem about the painting Lionel, I know what you mean! Look forward to hearing all about your trip. Take care Fiona x

If there are awful parts, I am not seeing it, Lionel. I think this is really lovely. Your palette is always so harmonious and I love that mellow but sunny atmosphere.

Lionel......you're back!!! I hope you had a lovely rest and are feeling much better. Hopefully you have had the chance to get lots of material for some paintings. I look forward to seeing the results!! Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my snow scene and chopdyke lane. Alan has been very helpful and I hope it will show in my future work. We'll see hey!! my very best wishes to you Lionelxxxxx

Hello Lionel........just checking up on you!! I hope your heath continues to improve and you are thinking of putting paint to board. Have you been keeping an eye on the gallery, it doesn't seem the same without the imput of yourself, Alan and few others. I don't know where everyone has gone. I still keep trying to achieve a decent watercolour, some turn out better than others and the ones that do turn out okay are all down to luck....I'm sure. I'll be keeping an eye out for your posting. All my very best wishes to you and thank you for your comment on the castle. Fiona. x

I'm very glad to hear that your health has improved Lionel, I do hope you will have another go with your paints. What a coincidence that both our names should be mentioned on the TV, I'm much further north than Kilmarnock. I wish you and your family the very best for the coming season! Fiona XXX

It's those stunning trees in this one Lionel, they are illuminated by the lovely backdrop of the sky, gorgeous work

I used both knife and brushes with this one. There are some awful parts on this that become apparent when it is enlarged with the mouse wheel. I will try to correct them but I blame my macular degeneration!!
