A really interesting trio showing different mediums at work

The experiment works really well, seeing the contrast between each picture is great, excellent sketch.

Really good to see this development Lew

A useful combination of medium which isn’t used very often - interesting Lew…

Thanks Lew for posting this really interesting piece, it’s something I will try myself .

The buildup to the third stage is good Lewis, giving a more three dimensional look

Interesting Lewis and I think the 300gsm is better in handling such a build up.

Excellent, I will have to try this.

Interesting to see the way you progress here Lewis. In my eyes the finished one is perfect.

Interesting - I see you used water-soluble pencils: you'd have to, wouldn't you? The wax content of any good quality coloured pencil would repel watercolour washes. You could keep refining these, with a light touch of course! I think I've got some water-soluble pencils somewhere; I must have a try.

Very interesting Lew. I am assuming that the background came from the washes picking up some colour from the pencils, if so it works very well.

Nice work Lew It's great to se different methods.

The mediums have worked well together Lewis. We find out so much by experimenting. He has such a lovely, warm smile.

A great experiment Lew. It encourages me to try this out.

I've tried this before in my sketchbooks, and the watercolour washes picked up some grubbiness from the underdrawing. Thought I try it on better quality 300 gsm watercolour paper...works better.
