Abstract Art

Ooo I do like this Lewis, 😁

I had a real good laugh at this Lewis. Thanks for that. (-:

Really great Lewis, I love it!

A great visual statement and true. A very well known critic Robert Hughes said of pollocks drip paintings. “Once you have seen one you have seen them all”.

Thanks very much, I wasn't sure whether to post it. Capp was talking about the Rothkos and Pollocks. I don't like their work, but I'm not anti-abstract, I find some interesting and even beautiful...especially some of the abstract work produced on computers. I'm a big fan of Renoir...but don't like at lot of his paintings.

I don't understand abstract art Lewis and so these views coincide with mine - however I do like some of the patterns and colours, as long as nobody tried to explain it all to me!!

Ha-ha great and rings true. I like some abstract art so long as my mind can make something coherent of the work. I must admit that I have seen some people who can't paint for toffee push paint around a canvas and then manage to sell it at an exhibition!

An excellent interpretation of these wise words. Now if you had done this as an abstract ...???

Idea came from Al Capp's quote in the 1950's. Abstract Expressionism was the new BIG thing. It's followers declared that 'figurative art was dead, the way forward was abstract art.' Al was ranting against this. I'm not sure, but I think figurative is still around. I like some abstract art (especially the digital), but don't like abstract expressionism.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
