Fabulous picture. Don’t be so hard on yourself, it’s really good.

It's so good Lewis, each figure so full of character!

Well Lewis if you don't mind my pun I think these super Characters are all singing in harmony. But I know how you feel some times.

Don't berate yourself Lew, I love all of them, particularly the chap on the far rhs.

Well despite your own observations, that no one would have noticed Lew, it’s a fine bit of work. I wish I good do characters this well on a good day. I do believe when we gat a bit despondent with our work we look for faults more . I do understand that as artists we are never 100% happy with what we do.

Great characters Lewis! The singers especially are brilliant. You are being hard on yourself. I can be too self critical myself at times so I do know how you feel. However in all honesty I feel I am yet to see any painting from anyone that seems perfect in all respects. Keep doing what you do because you do it brilliantly!

Love it Lew. I have heard the Shanty singers. But this takes me back to HK , my husband sang with the Hong Kong Welsh and after every practice they/ we all repaired to the local hostelry and they often looked like this . Though at proper concerts they were very "proper".

Their smiles are infectious - I’m smiling just looking at them😁

Fishermen's friends? I love the crowd's reactions.

A happy scene, they all look like they’re enjoying themselves! The brickwork is beautifully done, lovely colours in it.

Great stuff Lewis despite your commentary. Amusing characters, I think the girl top left must have had a lip job 😊

Awe your art is always amazing. Your just to close to it and see things what we don't see. So all good Lewis as always 🙂

It’s got life and conveys the atmosphere really well Lewis

Ten characters, even more bricks, don't be hard on yourself it's a good one.

It's absolutely fine Lew. I can hear "Bound for the Rio Grande" if a bit less polished than the Oxford boys choir..(-:

All the characters look very good to me, well drawn picture Lew👍

Wonderful work Lewis.

Thank you all very much for your comments.

Really like this one, full of character.

I think it’s a smashing picture Lewis, full of life and smiles, and see none of the faults you do. Reminds me of the “Fisherman’s friends” who sing shanties too

This sort of drawing/painting doesn't need to be strictly accurate to be appreciated: your foreground figures may be small by comparison with the singers, but that means you concentrate on the singers - which is what we should be doing. By the way, the singer second from the right is a dead-spit of my old history teacher ... an entirely irrelevant observation, but there we are: he just is!

Awesome work Lewis, as usual

Fabulous! It works as a brilliant painting! Love it, Lewis!

No need to feel down young man but I think we all know where you’re coming from, and we’ve all been there, discontented with our work. I can see what you mean about the size of your singers, but they are the main content and stars of the event, so we should be drawn to them (pardon the pun!) and we are. I think you’ve captured the joy of singing like this, and as usual, made us all smile. We have gone to several excellent concerts of a well known MVC in the last few years and I can imagine them in one of your drawings as they all wear overly long crinkly trousers and are just waiting to be caught in a sketch!

Rafter ye ad a few, ye can’t tell diffurunce! Me arties!

This was part of an attempt to shake myself out of lethargy and paint larger more complex pictures. I can do pics with one or two characters almost with my eyes shut. I must have had my eyes shut doing this. The figure with the hat is too big, all the foreground characters are too small. I kept going because I've not finished too many pics lately. But there are signs that I hurried this just to 'finish' it. I like bits of it, so I'm posting it. You can't win them all.

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
