The colours are as vibrant as the characters. Great image.

Wonderful expressions Lewis.

Being a natural " Morris" man I love the tradition and the dance, Lewis. I've seen quite a lot in our area and up around Haworth in Yorkshire. They have a lot of fun but some groups are suffering from the pc vultures who want to change the world and all in it. Long may they last...nice work from you. (-:

Lovely, I love their costumes, you have such a lot of great detail in there 😃

Love your work Lewis. The happy characters and details in this one are wonderful :)

And what a jolly jape it is too! Fabulous mirth, movement and entertainment. Each face is an expression of sheer enjoyment. I'll have a pint of what they're on. *smile* Brian

Yes we always find you in the wonderful detail Lewis. Thanks.

Wonderful! We still have a few of these old codgers on the island, and whatever anyone thinks of Morris men (and some women nowadays) it keeps 'em fit.

Brilliant Lewis, you really do make your characters seem alive.

Wonderful sketch Lew! Our local Morris men wear more of the traditional white with black straps costume, more like the original Moroccan dancers. I find it very strange that we Brits adopted our invaders dance habits! Strangely in Morocco, the dancers/acrobats can't be bothered to dress up as they used to, when I first visited in the 1970's.

Thanks to everyone for having a look, and your comments. Linda...I made no attempt to get costumes right, I just drew the idea of how they looked from the image lurking in my head. I like Morris Men, and all the other enthusiasts who provide us with entertainment. Like Re-enactors, vintage car geeks, and all the rest. Re-enactors...now there's a thought...

I love this Lewis! Such a happy bunch they look.

Merry Morris men......you have them radiating joy.

You have great skills Lewis. You certainly captured their passion for this tradition. Hopefully it will live on!

Wonderful. Looks as if the drink had been flowing even before the dancing.!!

We had a short break on the Isle of Wight 2 years ago. We came across some Morris Men performing in a village somewhere. They were having such fun doing it, the fun was communicated to the audience. I know some people aren't keen on Morris Men but I think folk lore stuff like this is part of the fabric of these islands. It's great that people still do it. This is a made-up sketch I did when I got home. I've tried to show the fun the old boys were having. Watercolour, A4 sketchbook.
