I was a great fan of Spike and had a good chuckle at these sayings, Lewis. Please keep them coming!

Thanks again Lew. You always make my day shine.

Such clever thoughts!

Excellent and really amusing Lew.

Splendid combination of art and humour. I did a quick search to see if he said anything about art and found this.....'Said Hamlet to Ophelia, I’ll draw a sketch of thee. What kind of pencil shall I use? 2B or not 2B?'

I loved Spike Milligan and these are great quotes.

Thank you very much for your comments. I've just been re-reading his book 'Puckoon' for the umpteenth time (a treasured possession). That's what prompted this. He wrote many books. In the preface to his second book he wrote, 'after 'Puckoon' I vowed never to write another book...this is it.'

You've brightened my morning - thanks Lewis, and nice to remember Spike Milligan again.

One of my favourite comedians, very funny actor , really good Lew , love the quotes.

Great stuff!

One of the funniest and cleverest people ever Lewis. Thanks for reminding me of this great man.

I really liked Spike Milligan. He was quirky, eccentric and very funny. Super post to remind us of a great comedian.

Hilarious Lewis. Thanks for my morning chuckle.

A comic genius, terrific Lewis

Very amusing and great to be reminded of him.

I remember the Goons from the 1960's, they were so funny. Thanks for a reminder of his humour Lewis.

Nicely done, Lewis :)

This is brilliant Lew. The comments he came up with were great and so amusing.

Oh so funny, Spike was a genius so was the Goon Show. Thanks for bringing him back Lew.

Just had a good laugh too, please keep up the good work.

“There are holes in the sky where the rain gets in, they are ever so small, that’s why rain is thin.” From one of his books of poems in the 60s. I love Milligan, thank you Lewis.

I did a number of scribble sketches trying to caricature Spike's face, but found it too difficult. So this isn't far off a straight portrait, although I have elongated his face a bit. Coloured pencil. He's was a man I found very funny. Offbeat and quite mad at times, the Monty Python bunch are similar, but they came after Spike and were heavily influenced by him.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
