A Gourmet Meal

This made me laugh, I like the magnifying glass, and I know what you mean about some cookery programmes!

The poised hand, the look of pride and expectation of the maître d’. Expertly done again Lew.

Wonderful humour Lew, great expressions. I hope you'll go on to the next courses.

Wonderful, in our house we also hate food like this and usually very overpriced. The look on the customer's face is the epitome of my husband's whenever presented with such fare.

Thanks Lew....

Brilliant humour Lew and a great example of character drawing, especially expressions definitely a a candidate for a picture paints a thousands words.

Couldn’t agree more about the cookery programmes! Great sketch.

Great Lew. And I’ve had them and paid exorbitant prices! Ridiculous concept that we’ve been sucked into…

They used to say less is more, but perhaps they meant lettuce is more!

Absolutely brilliant Lewis. The starter these days costs a small fortune. Looks nothing like you thought it would. And is gone before you can even swallow it.! Excellent characterisation.

I'm with you on this one Lewis, brilliant drawing

Quite brilliant, Lewis and so true!!

Excellent Lew , more money to cook less food, future?😊

A couple of males once justified their extortionate vegetable cost because they had grown them themselves. Really.....? Wonder where they hid the tins. Right on the mark as ever Lew.

Great Humour and beautifully drawn Lewis.

Agree with the comment on cookery programmes and so-called ‘fine dining’ . Great picture Lewis. Your waiter has the look of actor Jim Broadbent btw.

So true Lewis. You pay a fortune for nothing on the plate but a pretty pattern of food. This morning there was a cookery programme and they put the ‘food’ on using tweezers! Once we went with relatives to a posh restaurant and I asked where the vegetables were and was told they were on the plate - one slice of carrot, potato and aubergine!

Less is more(money) Lew, so so true. Made me smile, you captured those expressions so well.

Thank you all for your great response. That's odd Andrew, I don't see Jim Broadbent in the waiter, he's just made up. I expect if I tried to draw that actor it wouldn't look like him. Always interesting how we see things differently.

So true Lewis. Brilliant.

Wonderful Lewis.

😉👍

Great as always. You sound like my husband Lewis, he doesn't appreciate food that's been 'mucked around with'

I think it is a cunning ploy to make you eat more, through giving you lots of small courses! Hilarious Alan!

I caught part of a cookery show. They were making a 1st course. A tiny piece of meat about the size of an oxo cube, a couple of leaves, and a few drizzles of sauce. You'd need perfect eyesight and a really steady hand with tweezers to eat it. It looked like the kind of thing I scrape off my plate when I've finished my meal. But I would think that, I'm a Cumberland sausage, mashed spuds, mushy peas and gravy kind of gourmet. Each to his/her own I guess. Pen and ink.
