Faces - in the style of George Underwood - mixed media

Comments

There's a certain serenity to the faces. I really like them.

Most unusual but so effective!!

Really interesting approach

Unusual and fascinating Lewis. The overall feel is hundreds of years old but the faces in the bodies are more comic book style

I love it Lewis. I like the red you have used also.

Fascinating and intriguing a super work of art Lewis.

Just superb Lew , beautifully done.

Great drawings Lewis. Works well 😊

Interesting and beautifully drawn.

Intriguing and it moved me to look up George Underwood.

Different Lew, interesting work…

Different is good Lew, but the artwork is still excellent 👌

Thank you for your comments, always valued. I think I'll make a couple of changes. I'll use a darker red on the red figure, and paint out the leaves on the front girl's hat...should be easy enough with coloured ink.

This one certainly held my attention Lewis, mesmerising

Well constructed Lewis, I admire your talent and your creativeness very much.

The benign faces of the two main characters belie the plight of the seemingly imprisoned faces, very mysterious Lewis. I love it.

Love your willingness to try something new Lew. Nice work.

Intriguing Lewis.

This is different, like the blue one.

Lewis, you are so “ esoteric”. I’ve looked up G. U. and I like his images - they are quite mediaeval. I like your take on them too.

Very unusual but extremely effective. I like how the faces are overlaid on the figures.

Love those hats!

Trying something different This artist has painted figures with stylised faces against mainly flat colour backgrounds. I admire them, and thought I'd do something in that style. I haven't copied his art, my faces aren't so stylised, and I've changed the clothes...but it still owes a lot to his work. On posting, I realised the red figure would be better with a darker red...might do that, might not. Coloured inks and coloured pencils.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
