Is that a member of the Government on the right Lewis? Actually they both could be......maybe you should draw the whole cabinet?

They are fun to look at .... am sure you know it but you've got the great beginnings of a travelling circus here.

Marvellous couple of cabinet members!

Your cast of characters are always fantastic Lew, whether circus or cabinet members, much the same really these days! Keep ‘em coming.

Love the clown.

These are great characters Lew; so beautifully detailed. One of my favourite pictures is William Powell Frith’s “Derby Day” which is jam packed with people. It’s 36” wide, so I think you should not abandon your idea, but think about combining them on a really big background. It would look amazing!

Actually Derby Day is 88 inches wide so you have even more space to play with.

Lol awe they are great. Clown looks cool 😎

They are delightful characters, Lewis! Like both of them very much!!

Thank you for your comments. It's a sign of the times that I only have to draw a clown and everyone thinks of the government. I like that painting too Andrew, he did crowd scenes so well. Doing it this way appeals but I didn't think the original idea through properly, and knew I wouldn't carry on with it. I'd like to do something on this lines, but it'll require more planning...I tend to launch into things and then change my mind.

Lew superb characters as always , every time I look at you artwork I’m surprised and impressed at the quality of you characters. I’m so pleased that you have them printed in book form so that future generations of your family can see how talented you are .

Another winner Lewis.

Love them Lewis.

Always superb Lewis. Love the idea of snake oil curing all!

Great characters, Lew. can't help but wonder how long it will be before purveyors of genuine fake snake oil start clogging up the Forum.

Expertly illustrated as always Lewis but they're your original characters too - how do you do it? With all the talk on the Forum regarding digital art, I wonder how big a step would it be to animate these wonderful characters of yours?

Always skillful artwork and the characters are brilliant.

Thanks again everyone for your comments. I hadn't thought of that Tony, hope I haven't opened the floodgates...but if it was GENUINE FAKE snake-oil that would be OK. Russell, I used to do animation as a hobby...drawings on cels and also with plasticine figures. These figures could be animated using cels, but the colours would be much flatter with very limited shading or it would take forever...even basic flat colour drawings take long enough. They could be done with 3d animation, because the figure can be as detailed as you like because you only make each figure once, and lighting is applied artifically. I wish I had the patience to do that kind of animation...but if I tried it again it would have to be with plasticine.

Super characters Lewis- yes like others “cabinet members” come to mind. With your imagination and skills I’m looking forward to seeing many more of these.

Very good Lewis. I agree with the comment about the one on the right- I could suggest a few politicians names!

Terrific characters Lewis!

The dodgy character on the right looks like he has come straight out of a western. Great stuff Lewis.

These stand really well by themselves, but it's amazing what you did with them in the poster. Your characters are really superb, Lewis.

Had an idea for a circus/side-show picture, as it would require a lot of small figures I decided to compile various drawings in photoshop. I struggle to draw small these days...I could draw normal size and scale them down in photoshop. (Is that clear?) Did a few pics like these, decided I don't like the idea. So I have to think of another way to use these them. No probs either way...it was fun to draw them.
