Simplifying a Harbour Scene by Leisure Painter
Tomasz Boinski sent in his version of Colin's project saying: 'I found your magazine on the shelf a couple of months ago and decided to see what in it. And now I get them every month! I'm not professional artist; it's just my hobby for evenings after office work. I find painting very enjoyable and relaxing. This time I've tried to follow Colin’s Painting Project. That was a huge challenge for me, but also lots of fun. I really liked the picture so I decided to give a go. I thought it would be great to add some light as the photo was taken in cloudy conditions, I think as it seemed quite flat. So I imagined the sun setting (or rising) somewhere on the left side, casting some shadows on the buildings in the background. My biggest problem was - as always - wanting to keep things simple and suggestive, but ending up overdoing the painting with too many details. Probably I have gone too far already, but was tempted to go even further :)'
