Philip, thank you for stopping to have a look at my portfolio and leaving a comment here. I'm not sure of acrylics, I can't quite get my head round them, I found I was trying to do watercolours with them and it didn't work for me. It's obvious I don't know enough about them. So for this past year I've settled on learning watercolours which I'm crazy about, but they don't forgive errors. And I find your comment interesting as I seem to be leaning in the direction of portraits, human and animals. So I'm already following your advice, thank you.

A lovely portrait Lala. If you're not comfortable with acrylics what about trying pastel pencils with some soft pastels. I find this medium suits portraits hugely as it giv es the artist so much control and is very forgiving when errors occur.i absolutely love this medium for portraits but know that I would find acrylics very difficult for portraits.
