The pastor's hat

The pastor's hat

Should have added that the painting is 50 cm x 70cm

one very tiny point, hard to see where the sheep with the hat on's head finishes and neck begins other than that it's a wonderful painting and the sheep are so well drawn.

Thank you Jorja for your valued comment, much appreciated and thanks for taking the time out to make it. . I can see what you mean, in the original it's a little easier to tell where one ends and the other begins, but it's a good point and I will lighten the neck slightly which should bring out the outline of the head a bit more

I love the way the other sheep are looking on, so funny. Good painting Lala.

Thank you Carole for your comment, I'm so glad you enjoyed the humour. In that particular photograph there are no other sheep around, but I put them in to make a better compositiion, and for the humour.

Quite surprised at the fact that the shepherd is Russian. The painting is so typical of the area, love the colours and the humour, does the pastor still wear his hat I wonder ?

Thanks Rita for your comment, the area is near Casas de Madrona. And yes, when I drove away I noticed that the hat was back on Waldemar's head!

Lala, It is sometimes difficult to tell when you have finished a work, if you are asking yourself "is it finished" it usually is. David

David this is one big fault I have. For me it is always difficult to know if something is finished or not, I will fiddled and invariably destroy the very thing that I liked! I have to trust more and not end up overworking a painting. Thank you for your valuable comment

Went out last May at 6.30 in the morning to find this shepherd with his flock. With his permission I followed him around for about an hour taking photographs. As I turned to leave he called me. He'd placed his hat on the ram's head for me to take a last photograph. He is Russian, his name is Waldemar, but the Spanish call him Valentino. Have I finished the painting or are there still things to do? Your comments gratefully received
