Dressing

This must be one of my expressions then Mick....if Julian went out the door in his chosen garments, I wouldn’t be able to get off the drive for generous donations of clothing! And besides, he has no dress sense whatsoever. As my ade Mither would say, “he has a taste like an onion.” Lovely portrait, I like the red hair and green eyes.

All noted Fiona. Thank you. I’m a victim too but dress with Annette in mind to ensure tranquility when I leave the house. It’s a whole, interesting, sociological study from a macro perspective that someone should undertake. I prefer to understand it as ‘love in action’. That interpretation makes me and Julian feel very comfortable and think it’s worth the trouble.

You’re right Mick, I could list the many conversations we’ve had about what we wear, especially when going out. I’m sorry to admit it but I have certain standards what I wear, even in the house and garden! Lol. Yes, I know that’s unreasonable but I can’t help it. It’s a slippery slope when you start thinking....I can’t be bothered. You’ve given me much to think about.....lol.

Can't help but think there is a certain tenderness to this portrait.

It looks as though she is having second thoughts, Michael, maybe back to the gaberdine then! Lovely portrait and line.

Your words are always good and perfectly sum up a perfect painting!

Thanks Fiona, Tony, Willie and Heather. I don't mind a little chaos Fiona, on my own. I thought she looked a bit sad Willie. You're so kind and generous Heather.

Reminds me of going a walk the other day, my husband had his old paint spattered trousers on! I refused to walk with him until he changed 🙄 A good painting Michael!

First of all, I like this a lot Michael. Minimal strokes great result. The comments, as usual with your posts got me laughing - guess why! Yes, the way blokes dress. It must be strange to be married to s.o. who thinks about what they wear.....it seems to happen as husband's get older😳. I wouldn't own up to knowing him when he's off to the allotment.

Thanks Carole, Gudrun and Marjorie. Yes, it's as if you ladies are ashamed to go out with us sometimes these days. It wasn't always like that of course. We used to dress to impress in those days though. Thank you for all your keen observations of social life.

Beautifully done Michael - a very strong portrait.

Love the nuanced smirk on her face and the minimal strokes you have used Michael. It’s funny but living near the sea seems to influence people to dress with total abandonment.

Thanks Margaret and Carole. Relaxed like me Carole.

Fabulous painting, great expression

Really like this, both the simplicity of the composition and the colours.

Your on top form with this one Michael, love the expression as if to say, " Are you going out like that "

Portrait of a woman whose husband dressed as she wanted him to dress, not as he wanted to dress. Watercolour.
