I like this for the same reason you painted it Ken, the colour scheme and the light......also, look at the wear on the steps It’s a very clean and tidy close by the way.

In Scotland, we call the entry and staircase of a tenement building a 'close'. The word rhymes with 'dose' but not with 'nose'. This close belongs to a tenement in Dunfermline, not far from my home, and I was drawn to (a) the colour scheme and (b) the light pouring through the stair window. I used the square format which is particularly good for pulling the viewer's eye right into the painting.
