An Imaginary Scene by Katy Dean

Comments

I can see myself sitting on the bank with my sketchbook and a flask. I’ve had the soft pastels out too today, I’m filthy now!

You have a lovely imagination.

The dead tree has worked a treat Katy, a lovely softness to your pastels.

The dead tree in the foreground gives a lot of depth to the whole scene, Katy. Good idea!

Love that splash of pink 👍😀

Lovely pastel shades - the pink and soft greens really work well.

Lovely use of soft pastel Katy, very pleasing to look at.

I agree with the others...the dead tree shoves the background into the distance. I like the way you've painted the foreground flowers, too.

Lovely work - so pretty and restful.

I like this very much.

A beautiful scene Katy. I love the softness and the foreground pinks especially.

Thank you for the lovely comments, I’m quite blown away. Glad I put the tree in, I think it just finished the picture somehow. That’s what I love about pastels, so forgiving!

This is so lovely, dreamlike Katy.

Such lovely soft colours, love this Katy

This is lovely Katy, the glow on the water and the use of pastels in the background.

Thank you Carole, Hilary and Val-Irene, I didn’t expect such a good response to this painting😊😊

Soft pastel A4 Ingres paper. Been fiddling about with this for ages, adding fisherman but didn’t like that, adding swan didn’t like that either so today added a dead tree and calling it a day!
