I can see why you might have had reservations, but the point is it's one of your first in acrylic; they are not easy if you've come to them from watercolour or oil, and on the whole you've pulled this off. The sheep especially, which I hate to paint because mine always end up looking like fluffy elephants. are well executed, other than the foreground one is a bit small in relation to the others. Like the overall colour-scheme, but suggest more variation in the greens, and perhaps not trying to paint a whole tree when you've too little space: these look a bit squashed, and the trunk of the foreground tree is fuzzily defined on the right. I suspect you need to relax and not worry so much about getting it right = just have a crack at it. But acrylic can be like painting with toothpaste when you first start on it, how to achieve fluidity is a problem - more water helps. And finally (gasp..) I think acrylic requires a wider range of colours than oil or watercolour, at least to start with. I do like the colour of your trees though: a change from the ever-present slab of burnt umber you so often see. Keep going with them!

Well done. I am too struggling with the beginnings of acrylic painting. It is really difficult to adapt from watercolour isn't it ,although i am beginning to discover a lot of similarities. I think you have captured the ground excellently and like your trees too. Overall the painting is very pleasing and i can understand why part of you likes it. Robert ( above) seems to know what he is talking about so (being acryic) you could always enlarge the front sheep. I think the painting is worth it!

Thanks Robert and Judith for your advice, will definately enlarge the sheep at front and repost, its been a delight to have feed back on my work and really does help alot, I love both your galleries, there are so many beautiful paintings on this site.

In one hand I love acrylics but on the other I find them frustrating...I too have just started using them...I love the sheep and the tree to the back left is beautiful...it is as Judith says very pleasing

Hi Karleen. Thank you very much for your kind comment on my 'a touch of summer' watercolor. You are very much ahed of me...'Early Evening' is my favorite one from your gallery (however I like all your pictures). The sheep in the light, on the far right side of the painting, is somehow captivating and intriguing. I did only one picture in Acrylic up to now... I love this website!
