I used to do tonal studies prior to painting, must get back to that discipline, the tonal ones were often better than the final watercolours! This works very well.

Must confess, never done a tonal sketch, I just get straight into it and hang the errors, This works really well as such Joseph and the subject, not pretty but it's there and relevant, like it.

Ah, Hagg Lane!.. No, don't know the place but it's a smashing tonal painting Joseph. I'm guessing that you painted this fairly quickly and yet you've managed to include so much of the place, so effectively. I especially like the dog walker!
