You are very brave with your darks, Joseph, and this makes your work stand out. Good work, indeed.

This little figure group works very well. Reminds me a little of Liam Spencer's work, although your figures have more detail, which I like. But he has similar strong tonal contrast, I suppose that is easier with oils. He often does small ink and brush tonal studies prior to the finished works, do you use that method, it would be nice to see some?

Their body postures are really good Joseph, especially the tall, good looking man's stance. She's checking her phone and I've just spotted the other lady's sunglasses, perfect! Typical street scene.

Lovely painting Joseph....very bold and effective darks especially the 'lost and found' edges :-)

Thank you all for your comments much appreciated. Thanks for the tip off for Liam Spencer's work - very interesting. I don't feel brave CA Jones lol, sometimes its like painting in the dark. Louise I think I am going to start zooming in on my figures and cut out a lot of the street as it were as I seem to be happier doing this. Thanks Shayne - glad you picked up on my experimenting with lost and found edges - I think it brings a chaotic edge to a painting that seems to create some beautiful results every now and again.

I'm more engaged by the little group of removal (?) men in the background. Just enough detail to give a hint of recognition, but always the nagging doubt that something else may be afoot. Result: you keep coming back for more. Intriguing. How big is the piece Joseph?

Brilliant Kim & very well spotted. The little group at the back is two men sat at the back of a truck while three are carrying furniture. Yes for me this was the best bit also as something is happening (and a few little brush strokes don't always work). The whole piece is about 10" x 14" - this snippet is about 3" by 6".

Just the minimum of information but you totally get the picture. Super.
