Ellesmere Church and Mere

Ellesmere Church and Mere

Have you played a bit with the perspective here? No reason why you shouldn't if you have, I just wondered - all the vanishing points make this a complicated picture. It has considerable impact, and strong colour.

Yep, to emphasise the visual dominance of the church, relative to the rather mundane victorian pile, Ellesmere House, in front , I've played fast and loose with perspective on a number of fronts. I think it works quite well though.

Another stunning painting, love it.

Another of my paintings celebrating my home town of Ellesmere in Shropshire. The Lady Katherine steam launch sails the mere in front of the parish church. I've dramatised the height of the church and reduced the impact of the rather dull Ellesmere house in front of it for artistic effect. 24 inches by 24 inches by 1.5 inches on deep box canvas.
