I normally hate the practice of painting round the sides of canvases, but as it's you I'll be forgiving.. another one of your excellent, colourful paintings, packed with incident and interest.

Thanks for the compliment Robert. As to the current fad of painting around the sides of canvasses - I'm not personally keen either aesthetically - I prefer paintings in a frame myself - BUT the "painted around the sides deep box canvas" currently sells well, and doesn't need a frame (a significant cost issue for the canvasses I have in galleries awaiting sale). Painting around the side of a complex picture is quite challenging and time consuming too. I suspect that eventually the "unframed" fad will pass and all these paintings will end up in a nice deep conventional frame !

A representation of a scene at our lovely Ellesmere town mere on a beautiful day this summer, as the steam launch, Lady Katherine , plys its tourist trip trade around the mere. 24 inches by 20 inches by 1.5 inches, on deep box canvas, image painted around sides too.
