The Swamp, New Millennium Day by John Geoghegan
A2 smooth drawing paper, Conte drawing crayons and willow charcoal. The Swamp playing fields at the mouth of the River Corrib where it meets Galway Bay, with the Clare hills in the background. I used some license to put the lighthouse in. Without it the drawing had no geographical context. The photo I worked from dates from 1/1/2000 and the drawing doesn't do justice to the actual light conditions on the day. It was spectacularly monochromatic. I like that the nets were gone from the goalposts waiting for the New Year to get back in play.
