Tufted Duck by Jenny Harris

Love it. Think you’ve inspired me to have a go at linocut myself

Beautifully done Jenny you are so good at these beautiful prints.

I agree with Dixie, you're producing marvelous prints.

What's not to like? It's good Jenny.

Jenny, it’s brilliant! So clean cut and as always, an eye catching and well thought out design.

Love it - you're so good at this!

Thanks very much Adrian, Paul, Lewis, Diane, Fiona and Heather for your encouraging comments! I think we often focus too much on the parts of our work which we think are weak, but other people don’t always see them. I’m finding linocutting very addictive, but am itching to hold a paintbrush again!

The way you pare down the design to the absolutley essential elements to convey the image is very effective. I'm sure it takes a lot of thought and hard work.

Thanks, William! (I do find it difficult to pare it all down to a minimum - what looks good as an initial design very often doesn’t translate well to a purely black and white image.)

Always admire your beautiful Lino prints Jenny. Great work on that happy looking duck.

Really like your B & W prints.

every shape in this piece works for the overall composition Jenny.

Very clever Jenny, I have never done a Lino cut.

Many thanks Carole, Richard and John! (John, the bit I’m struggling with is the water - to me that’s the weakest part of the design and looks ‘bitty’ - I may try another with some slightly bolder shapes.)

Thanks, Gillian - you should have a go, they’re fun to do (when they go right!)

A splendid piece, good design, sharpness, clean print, attractive, and I do like the way you have let the tufted duck’s tuft just “ping” the the line of the water’s edge and draw the eye in to the subject.

Frank, thank you so much for your positive feedback - it’s always really helpful to know how others see your work as I think we often only focus on the negative aspects ourselves!

Linocut 15 x 20 cm. Inspired by a recent river walk when I saw one for the first time. Was happy with it until I printed it, now not so sure. May try another with a slightly different composition.
