Mixed media collage

Please see notes - the trees and shrubs are photo collage, wouldn’t like anyone to think I’d painted them!

Beautifully done Jenny, it takes skill to get it looking so good.

Thanks very much Dennis and Paul! I’m still undecided about this one, I probably shouldn’t have used so much photo collage. Anyway, on to something else now!

Jenny I’m glad you posted this. I am also keeping in touch with a couple of painting friends and we are setting a weekly challenge of differing subjects, mediums etc. I chose collage for this week....now stupid of me.....I started yesterday and gave up after a couple of hours with nothing to show for it! You have inspired me to have another go....I like this by the way, especially the seamless way you have done the collage.

Its lovely Jenny!

Many thanks Fiona and Linda! Fiona, keep going with the collage - it can be quite fun. The photo collage in this is about 16 small pieces - I quite enjoy selecting and placing them, it’s the sticking together that’s so fiddly and time consuming! All the features on the building are also painted separately and stuck on. The whole process can be quite addictive! Please post yours when you’ve done it, would like to see it.

Wasn’t sure whether to post this as it’s not the sort of thing I’d usually do. My art club is keeping in touch at the moment through a group Facebook page, with various challenges being set, one of which was to paint a local building using collage. This is a collaged impression of the tower of our local church, the earliest parts of which go back to the 11th century. The sky and building are painted collage, but the trees and shrubs are photo collage from various gardening magazines.
