It may be an old one but it’s a goodie. I always think of charcoal as messy (so I like using Nitram) but it is a skill worth cultivating.

Thanks for all the very kind comments, much appreciated! I do remember quite enjoying working with the charcoal, it was done on sugar paper so it was easy to rub out and rework areas.

Haven’t had time to do any new painting for a while. This is an old charcoal portrait that I’d forgotten about. Think it was done as an art class exercise - I don’t do portraits from choice!
