Very effective as it is Jenny but interesting to see if you do go further with it!

Interesting WIP, Jenny. I'd like know if you bui Claybord and Aquabord in england, because I found it sell by amazon only from USA. There are some online sellers in England where to buy Aquabord?

Thanks, Tessa! I'm afraid I've messed this up already and have washed most of it off! Think I'll put it to one side for a while, I'm finding it very difficult to work with. Cesare, yes, it's available in the UK. I bought mine online from the Ken Bromley website, but Jacksons also have it on theirs. I may get some of the Aquabord - I wanted to try something which would allow me to varnish watercolours and frame them without glass. The Clayboard panels I find frustrating to work with, they're like using Yupo - they aren't, though, recommended for watercolour, whereas the Aquabord is. There's an American artist called. Ali Cavanaugh who does the most amazing portraits on Aquabord - well worth looking up her work, I think you'd really like it.

Hi Jenny, thank you for your reply. I received this morning from Amazon the wonderful book of Ali Cavanaugh "Modern Fresco Paitings" with her amazing portraits. I like Yupo paper but it don't fits for portraits, though Stan Miller use it also for portraits. I would try some portraits on Aquabord and I will buy it from the website you let me know. Many thanks.

it is always a pleasure to see something evolving, the first tentative idea and effect of a piece as yet forming. Love the colour and the movement.it is very similar to the way in which dye can move on silk. I see frozen water caught at the edge of a stream.

I've got her latest book Jenny, it looks interesting with some great inspiration on every page. Let's see how you develop your masterpiece!

Many thanks Stephen and Alan for your comments - and Cesare, glad you've bought Ali Cavanaugh's book, I know you like doing portraits and hers are inspirational. I have wiped off some of this first effort (one of the benefits of Claybord is that you can easily wipe back to the white surface) and have added some more inks so it now resembles a springlike scene whIch has encouraged me to carry on with it - I'll try to incorporate some of the techniques from Ann Blockley's book. I'm sure it won't be a masterpiece Alan, but it will be fun working with some new ideas!

Acrylic ink on Claybord. 8" x 8". Bought some Ampersand Claybord to try with watercolour, but should have got Aquabord which is meant for watercolour. It does, though, take acrylic ink well - have made a start with this, but it needs more, maybe try to turn it into an Ann Blockley style landscape? I've got her book on Experimental Landscapes, so plenty of inspiration there!
