Thanks, Dennis, much appreciated.

That's really effective Jenny. I would find it really difficult working in reverse . I haven't heard of the soft cut lino and remember many cut hands and fingers when I did printmaking at school. AS usual, I like the design of this piece and anything with sheep is a winner for me Diana

A striking image, I like it Jenny. Yes do more.

Thanks Diana and Carole - I will try some more and see if I can get the next one a little neater, this is a bit rough and ready! (Diana, if you like printing and haven't tried the soft cut blocks, they're definitely worth a go, much easier on the hands than the traditional blocks, although a bit more difficult to see where you've cut.)

This jumped off the page for me Jenny! Striking work. I may be wrong but I vaguely remember keeping the Lino block in a warm room as it is easier to cut around your patterns. A bit more malleable .

Thanks very much Sarah (and for the useful tip!)

Love it Jenny! Did you hand colour with the green or did you do a reduction print, I'm really interested because I like doing lino cuts. This is a great design, I don't think it looks rough, I like the look of it very much.

Thanks, Fiona - yes, I hand coloured it afterwards just to see what it looked like with some colour on it. I'm not too sure about reduction prints, unless you cut a totally separate block it means you can't go back and do more of the original prints later if you've cut it again. Since posting this one I've actually printed some more in different colours and with the coloured ink it doesn't seem to need any added colour. I was hoping I could use it for my Christmas card this year, although it's not particularly seasonal! I'll definitely try some more since I also really like doing them. (In fact, I looked back through yours before starting mine.)

Thanks for your reply Jenny. The woodpecker I did was coloured afterwards with a little wash of watercolour, reduction printing is limited yes.... and complicated!! I thought I would start my Lino cut for my Christmas card, you've given me the nudge.

Linocut 4" x 4". My first attempt at a linocut since my schooldays - tried a new soft cut lino block which cut really easily but otherwise I found it quite difficult to work with - will have to persevere now that I've got started!
