Jenny Harris

Biography

I paint mainly in watercolour, often including other media such as pen and ink, pastel or collage. My main interest is in colour and design and most of my work is quite stylised and often illustrative. I enjoy experimenting with acrylic inks, particularly using cling film to create texture, and painting on a gesso base. I also like all forms of printing and have recently been producing more linocuts. I paint a wide range of subjects, but draw most of my inspiration from the world of nature and the lovely countryside where I live on the edge of the Surrey Hills. My painting Feeling Blue was a winner of the Jean Haines Beat the Blues painting challenge in 2015 - which was my introduction to POL - and one of my linocuts was a winner in the more recent POL printmaking competition. I am also delighted to have had work selected in the TALP Open Art competition for the past four years, either as highly commended or for exhibition at Patchings. I also won one of The Artist’s 90th Anniversary painting challenges, and have twice been a finalist in the ‘Sketch for Survival’ campaign and regularly exhibit and sell at my local art club exhibitions for which I am exhibition organiser. Other interests include gardening and agility training with my collie dog.
